By paying special attention to the face, we sometimes forget that the skin of the whole body needs care. How many days of sun await in our hands and feet! How much we want to wash it all away, feel refreshed and light. Once a week, swap your usual shower for a hot bath, and replace your beautiful scented shower gel with a fragrant cocktail that you’ll prepare yourself. It’s not difficult at all, especially since you can be sure that you’ve made a real bath, fit for queens and goddesses. And then, it’s nice to feel like a true healer and aromatherapist!

There are many recipes for baths that have accumulated over the centuries, and they are not complicated at all. For example, to prepare the famous Cleopatra bath, you need to warm up, without bringing to a boil, a liter of milk, dissolve in it a cup of honey heated in a water bath, add two tablespoons of any vegetable oil, and pour the mixture into the bath water. Aphrodite’s bath also contains saffron.

It’s best if the temperature of any bath does not exceed 40°C. The duration of a hot bath should not exceed 10-12 minutes. Cosmetologists recommend that the person taking the bath lay their head on a towel dampened with cool water and not eat much before water procedures.

Herbal baths are very useful. For example, a hot bath with the addition of 3-5 g of fir oil, as well as baths with melissa and juniper decoction, have a positive effect on the nervous system. Coniferous baths have a refreshing, light tonic effect, relieve fatigue, nervous tension, and irritability. To prepare such a bath, dissolve 50-70 g of ready-made powdered or 100 ml of liquid coniferous extract in water. For chronic insomnia, nervous excitement, and for metabolic restoration purposes, baths made from linden flowers help.

A warm (37°C) bath with lemon slices for five minutes will turn you from a sleepy owl into a singing lark. A cool (30°C) bath with a cocktail of rosemary, grapefruit, and bergamot oils also tones. A warm bath (40°C) with cedar, geranium, or rosewood oil is relaxing. If you are physically tired, take a warm bath with mint oil. It is worth noting that when using aromatic oil, it is not necessary to add too much: an excess can cause skin irritation. 5-6 drops are enough.

Salt baths are very popular, and for good reason. They not only have a positive effect on the skin but also serve as a preventive measure for diseases of the cardiovascular, nervous, and musculoskeletal systems, have analgesic effects, and improve metabolism. To prepare a salt bath, it is enough to dissolve 300-500 g of table or sea salt in water. It can be taken every other day for two weeks.

Clay baths are especially useful for the skin. Clay absorbs toxins and kills pathogenic bacteria. It not only cleanses but also tones. Different types of clay have different effects. White (kaolin), rich in zinc and magnesium, as well as green and blue clays, are more suitable for baths. Splashing in a clay bath, don’t forget to keep your head in it, as clay has a particularly beneficial effect on the hair and scalp. To prepare a clay bath, dissolve 400-500 g of clay in water. Stay in the bath for 15-20 minutes, then rinse your body with water without detergents.
