Renee…. This is not about shaming plastic surgery. The shock is about a beautiful woman wanting and making herself look entirely different. And not just that even… If she was not famous a few would have noticed. They would be shocked to but would get used to it. But she’s world known.
And for us her previously pretty face is not just a face. It’s a link to many wonderful movies she was in. It’s a association of the beauty she was with the beauty of those heroines. Now the link is seriously damaged. We may criticize and not understand the desire to be unrecognizable, even though we may understand that her face is her own business.
But at the same time it’s hard to forgive and forget the deception and betrayal – this is how I see what Renee has done by rejecting the beauty she was confirming that she didn’t consider that beautiful. Humans are mostly visual creatures. We associate substantial beauty with visual one. If we weren’t, the world would be plain and gray.
But it’s not. It’s radiating with visual beauty and filing your hearts with pleasure from observing it. It spreads deep into our hearts. Renee just damaged the connection between her real face and wonderful characters she portrayed. The connection will never be the same.
