This is a translation and some localization of a Russian article by Alexander Borzenkj and Anna Krasilshik, “20 Facebook Commandments” that was originally published on Br.ru.
When I was translating it, I came to realization that because of certain differences in Russian and US cultures some of the following “norms” can not really be applied. But I decided to translate and present all of them anyway.
The unstated social norms have been more or less established, but still are a question of doubts and debates. We have decided to place Facebook etiquette on record and defined 20 provisions yet to be updated with the ones you come up with.
Mind you, this was originally created in 2009. Things were different then. Much more different. But some are still relevant. And not only on Facebook.
